COURTESY VISIT TO THE CENTRE FOR ENVIRONMENTAL STUDIES, UNIVERSITY OF ABUJA BY THE CONGRESS FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF NIGERIA (CSDN)

On September 11, 2025, we conducted a courtesy visit to the Centre for Environmental Studies at the University of Abuja. Our delegation was warmly welcomed by the Centre Coordinator, Dr. Christopher Sako Kato, and Miss Ronas Richard, the Programme Officer.

The Director of the Centre, Prof. Dakyes Samuel Panse, welcomed our delegates — Mr. Mustapha Muhammed J., National President; Comr. Ahmed Abdul Yusuf, National Secretary; Mrs. Khadijat Babansule, Deputy National Secretary; and Mrs. Shola Akomolafe, a PhD student of the Centre — to his conference room for an engaging discussion.

The main focus of our dialogue was Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 17, which emphasizes partnership for the goals. We identified key areas for collaboration, including:

Capacity building through seminars and workshops

Advocacy programs aimed at promoting climate change awareness

Initiatives for creating awareness on climate actions

Strategies for enhancing the institution's visibility in various forms

Observance of United Nations environmental-related events

Prof. Panse and his team expressed their support for our initiatives and assured us of their cooperation. However, he underscored the importance of integrating research into our collaborative efforts.

This visit marked a significant step towards fostering a partnership that aligns with our shared goals of environmental sustainability and capacity building. We look forward to continuing our engagement with the Centre and executing the proposed initiatives successfully.
